In 1968 the P&LE converted all mainline operations to Centralized Traffic Control. The CTC machine was located in the Superintendent's Office in the Pittsburgh Terminal, which is now Station Square. Train movements from Lowellville, Ohio to Connellsville, PA on the Yough Division and Brownsville Junction on the Monongahela Division were controlled from the desk shown above. A smaller installation controlled the movements from Lowellville to Gateway Yard, the P&LE's western terminal, located in Struthers, Ohio.
